The Xerox PARC (Xerox Palo Alto Research Center) research facility opened in 1970 where the graphic interface for computers and the computer mouse were designed. The first mouse model was used on the Alto.
Jack Hawley was the lead inventor on a Xerox patent filed in 1973 for a mouse which used wheels to track the X and Y movements.
In 1981 the Xerox 8010 and Star software were designed and a new mouse make use of them.
